AMTEST is an automated test of word recognition that uses computer speech recognition to score the patients’ responses. Speech Recognition Thresholds are obtained with spondaic words. Word Recognition ability is tested at the optimal level level using NU-6 monosyllabic words. The optimal level is selected by determining the presentation level that maximizes the Speech Intelligibility Index. The user can override the automated selection of presentation level to select a different level.
